Durable Applied Surfaces >> Vitruv/Vitori >> FAQ

What is the main difference between Vitori and Vitruv?
Vitori is a lighter version of Vitruv and does not contain the our MeshlonTM backing. Vitori is for medium traffic areas while Vitruv best for high traffic areas. Both are more durable than paint or plaster.

How much does it cost? Is Vitori less expensive?

Most of our jobs fall between $18 and $25 per square foot installed. Larger installations over 1,500 square feet can be as little as $16 per square foot, while small jobs can be expensive -- as much as $40 per square foot. Pricing is based on the area and finish selected. There is a slight price differential with Vitori.

What is the cost vs. high-end wall coverings or fabric panels?

As noted above, cost depends on area and finish selected. Better wall coverings may range from $6 to $15 per square foot and fabric panels are in the mid-to-high $20’s per square foot. However, when life cycle is a factor, you’ll find Vitruv and Vitori surfaces to be a comparable value.

How do you clean it? Repair it?

Vitori and Vitruv are relatively mar-proof and withstand the normal “dents” and “dings” of everyday wear. In fact, we warranty our work for one year of normal use. It is easily patched, when needed. For most stains, a dirt eraser, or soap and water work fine.

How many colors does Vitruv come in?

We can match any color in any finish you desire! Call (718) 475-4521 and ask for your own Vitruv sample book of colors and finishes – or have our studio prepare a sample just for you.

Can Vitori be customized?
To an extent. Vitori is available in three surfaces: Carrera, Buttercoat, and Shattered Matrix. Color can be specified from any established color palette and top coat finishes are available in clear, metallic, and pearlescent. For more customizable options, Vitruv is the better choice.

Are they both fire-retardant? Mold resistant?

Yes, both Vitruv and Vitori are cement based, so they’re Class A rated, as well as Zero VOC rated.  Where mold might occur, we add anti-microbial agents to the finish.

On what substrate can Vitruv and Vitori be applied? Is there prep is needed?

We’ve found sheetrock, plywood and cement are the perfect substrate-- as long as it  has “integrity”, i.e., no peeling paint, wallpaper or loose tiles. Add a base primer and we’re ready to apply Vitruv.

Where is Vitori best installed?

Vitori is a good option for low to medium traffic areas; places that are out of reach or high, individual offices, behind reception desk, etc.  For any high traffic areas Vitruv is recommended.

How long has DFB been installing Vitruv?

After 7 years of installation is proud to bring this sustainable, product to the industry.

How quickly can I get a sample?

For custom colors, allow 1 week to blend and pre-trial the sample. Or, you can have an “in-stock” sample the next day. Call (718)475-4521 for samples.

How fast can Vitruv and Vitori be installed?

We can generally start as soon as the sheetrock is up! We’ve been able to finish about 1000 square feet in a few days, which includes the base primer and proprietary mesh under-layment.

Are both Vitruv and Vitori seamless?

Yes, both finishes are seamless.

Is Vitruv good on floors? Countertops?

Floors can benefit from a Vitruv finish, as long as they’re sealed with a urethane topcoat. Check out the images from Philips Van Heusen to see a Vitruv countertop.
