Sol-R-Shades >> Manual Control >> Contract >> FAQ

Architectural Series shades come with an array of valances, channels and pockets, including black out. The manual shade has only the brackets and a limited pocket configuration.

Who installs the pocket?
General Contractors are better equipped to install shade pockets. However depending on circumstances DFB will be able to install the pockets.

How big can a shade be?
With spring assist, manual shades can be up to 120" wide and 180" high.

Can I put the shade in a pocket?
All shades are available with a pocket. The size of the pocket is dependent on the size of the shade.

Who installs the blocking?
General Contractors are responsible for the installation of the blocking. However depending on circumstances DFB will be able to install the pockets.

How big is the pocket?
Standard pocket sizes for manual shades are 3 1/4" sq. or 4 1/2" sq. depending on the height of the shade.

Can one chain operate two separate shades?
No. Each shade requires its own operating chain, typically mounted on opposite sides of the window.

What is banding?
If a window is too large for one shade, and a horizontal seam is to be avoided, 2 shades with one pull can be used. There will be a 1 ½” gap between the bands.

What are the presets for manual shades?
Manual chain operated shades have a full up and a full down stop only.

Can I get a valance on a manual series shade?
No. For a valance or side channels you need to specify the Architectural series.
