What is the difference between architectural and manual shades?
Architectural Series shades come with an array of valances, channels and pockets that permit a more complete installation, including black out. The manual shade has only the brackets and a limited pocket configuration.
What is the maximum size of a shade?
With spring assist, manual shades can be up to 10’ wide and 10’ high.
Can I put the shade in a pocket?
The architectural series shade comes with an optional pocket.
How big is the pocket?
Standard pocket sizes for architectural series shades are 3¾" square.
Who installs the pocket?
Frequently the shade pocket is installed well in advance of the shades. The general contractor is better equipped to install shade pockets. However, depending on circumstances DFB will be able to install the pockets if they are surface mounted.
Who installs the blocking?
The blocking, if required is the responsibility of the GC. If need be, DFB can do the installation if it is surface mounted.
Can a valance be covered with fabric?
Valances can be covered with some fabrics to meet your requirements. Ask your DFB representative for details.
What is the maximum size of a valance?
The valance is 3¼" deep. The maximum unsupported width should not exceed 12'.
Can one chain operate two separate shades?
Yes, up to three shades can be driven with one clutch depending on the size of shade.Shades must be adjacent.
What is banding?
If a window is too large for one shade, and a horizontal seam is to be avoided, 2 shades with one pull can be used. There will be a 1½” gap between the bands.
What are the presets for manual shades?
Manual chain operated shades have a full up and a full down stop only.
Are there custom colors?
All aluminum parts can be custom painted. There will be a set up charge and a unit cost for the painting. Ask your DFB rep for details
