Does it come with a pocket?
All wireless remote control systems are available with a pocket, side channels and bottom enclosures. See detail section for specifics. The size of the required pocket is dependent on the size of the shade.

What are the available sizes for pockets?
Sizes are: 4 ½” sq., 5 ½ x 7” and 7 ½” x 7”

Who installs the pocket?
Frequently the shade pocket is installed well in advance of the shades and that’s why the general contractors are better equipped to install them. DFB can install surface mounted pockets.

Who installs the blocking?
General Contractors always handle “blocking” if any is required thru their subs. DFB can install surface mounted pockets.

Where is the motor?
The motor is inside the shade tube. The motors have a built in thermal overloads and limit switches.

What is low voltage?
Traditional line voltage requires more wiring than low voltage.

Can shades be controlled automatically?
Yes, interfaces are available to connect with all the popular automation systems.

Are wall switches needed?
The shade is radio frequency controlled from a handset. Wall switches are not needed, but wireless wall switches can installed if desired. One switch can control up to 5 shades. A 4 channel transmitter can do 4 grounds and 5 shades plus a master group option.

How is the shade controlled?
The shade can be controlled by a wireless switch on the wall or hand held remote.

How big can I make a shade?
Standard maximum sizes are 16’ x 20’. DFB can fabricate larger shades. If shades exceed this limit there are problems with retraction the ratio is 1 to 4, 1 wide to 4 long. Ask your sales representative about fabrics that can exceed the 16’ width.

What is banding?
It is possible to operate up to five shades with one motor if the openings are contiguous. This is sometimes preferable when the window is larger than the fabric and a horizontal seam is not desired. Banding reduces the cost per unit and the controls required.

Can a valance be covered with fabric?
Valances can be covered in a fabric to meet your requirements. Ask your Account Representative for details.

What is the maximum size for a valance?
The standard valance is 4 ½” deep. The maximum unsupported with should not exceed 12’.

Is it possible to have a custom color?
All aluminum parts can be custom painted and will incur a set up fee and unit cost for the painting. Ask your DFB Representative for details.
