ATHEYSHADES SPECIFICATIONS
PART
1.0 GENERAL
- SCOPE OF WORK:
Supply all labor, hardware, materials and equipment for a complete
installation of this section.
- SUBMITTALS:
- Shop Drawings:
Submit shop drawings, indicating all materials, including dimensional
sizes and thicknesses, in relation to abutting construction and
installation details.
- Samples:
Submit 12-in. x 12-in. samples of the specified shade(s).
- Product Information:
Submit specifications and product literature.
- References:
Supply no less than three (3) jobs of a similar scope with contact
names and phone numbers.
- PRODUCT DELIVERY:
- Each shade
shall be packed in its own cardboard box.
- Each shade
shall be labeled denoting room number, rotation number, size and
fabric style.
- Damaged shade(s)
shall be replaced with a new one(s) at no expense to the owner.
- JOB CONDITIONS:
- Roof must
be completed, and windows and frame must be installed and glazed.
- Wetwork including
sheetrock, spackling, taping and paint shall be completed and
dry.

PART 2.0 PRODUCT
- MODEL FOUR: Skylight
applications, single pull or double pull, similar to Models 1 and
2. Skylight shades shall be used whenever the incline angle is greater
than 20 degrees from vertical. Support wires shall be attached to
the back of the shade every 24 in., on the average. The same wires
shall be utilized as in Model 3.
- SHADECLOTHS:
- Sol-R-Shade
shadecloth: Series 1000, 2000, and 3000. Available in a range
of openness and colors.
- Canvas: Fine
combed India cotton woven in a herringbone twill pattern, 94 x
45 thread count, available in white or natural colors.
- All C.O.M.
fabrics> shall be backed with a standard Athey Shade backing material.
Fabric shall be sewn, not laminated, to the backing material.
- White
or natural canvas depending on the color of the C.O.M. material
- Woven,
translucent, lightweight polyester, white color.
- Cotton-backed
blackout Mylar, white color.
- Transparent
3-in Mylar.
- HARDWARE:
- Headrail
shall be 1 1.2 in. x 3/4 in. extruded aluminum with integral
channels to receive the attachment splines of the shade and
the valance.
- Cord
Lock shall be a crash proof, self-aligning locking device
that has a built-in cord separation system to keep the cords
in line and tangle free. The cord lock shall be spring loaded
to keep the cord forward of the shade.
- Cord
shall be braided non-stretching #9 dacron with a tensile strength
of 130 lbs.
- Valance:
Not available
- Sill
Plates shall be anodized aluminum in natural aluminum or brass
and furnished with nickel-plated or brass #6 screws.
- Brass
or Chrome Cleats (optional): Button cleats can be installed
in lieu of a cord lock.
- Pulleys
shall be nylon running on plated-steel shafts.
- INSTALLATIONS:
- Fastening:
Shade shall be mounted with a minimum of two (2) screws. Maximum
distance between the mounting screws shall be 30 in.
- Installers:
They shall have no less than three (3) years experience in
shade installations.
- Clean
Up: All debris shall be removed from the building as related
to the trade and disposed of legally. Job site shall be left
clean and orderly.
- Damages:
Damaged surfaces and finishes resulting from a careless installation
shall be repaired at no cost to the owner.
- Inspection:
Shades shall be inspected by the architect before the installer
leaves the job site.
PART 3.0 EXECUTION
- PROJECT CONDITIONS:
- Inspection:
The job site shall be inspected at least seven (7) days prior
to the installation. Installation will not convene until all
job conditions are suitable to the installation of the shade(s).
- Schedule:
Installation shall be coordinated with the job schedule outline
and with other trades.
- Measurements
shall be field certified.
